Erno Rubik Invented What Famous Toy
Erno Rubik Invented What Famous Toy. In Hungary, the puzzle was first known as the Magic Cube. REUTERS/Stephane Mahe (Stephane Mahe/Reuters) Erno Rubik was the inventor of Rubik's Cube.
It was invented by and named after Ernő Rubik, a young Hungarian professor. Few inventions in the entirety of human history can match the simplicity and popularity of the Rubik's Cube. He is a Hungarian inventor, architect and professor of architecture.
The Hungarian sculptor and architecture professor meant for it to be a tool his students could use to better understand three dimensional problems.
He also created the Rubik's Magic and Rubik's Snake toys.
The toy is iconic as an intellectual challenge that people instantly pick up and start playing around with intuitive understanding of what the end goal (all same color squares on each side) is. He invented the toy to teach his students at Budapest University about three-dimensional objects and to challenge them with simple puzzles. Little did he know his "Magic Cube" (as he originally named it) would become one of world's most famous puzzles of all time!
